Story of the brand DIOR began with its founder. Christian Dior is recognized as the unofficial king of post-war fashion. In 1947, when Europe was trying to get over it, he was not afraid to show luxurious and expensive clothes. Tightened waist, a high magnificent bust, small round shoulders, skirts to the ankles, either direct or rather wide – these are the main features of his first collection. Thanks to the editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar Carmel Snow, this style was named New Look, the embodiment of sensual femininity that completely turned the consciousness of fashionistas that period. As the most prestigious fashion house in France, Dior employed only the most talented assistants. One of them was Pierre Cardin – a tailor, who worked with brands in the late 40’s. Another employee of the brand Dior – Yves Saint Laurent, a young talented designer, who came in 1955 as a fashion school honors Chambre Syndicale. It was he who became the leading fashion house Dior after the sudden death of Christian Dior at the age of 52 years. However, already in 1960 after Yves Saint Laurent was called up for military service, his place is taken by Marc Bohan, who led the house Dior, until in 1989 he was not replaced by Gianfranco Ferre.
